Prologue
Introduced to DIY in the 1990s by his father – a nature lover and compulsive collector of discarded materials (at a time when picking up a piece of abandoned glass, wood, or plastic from a garbage can was a marginal and socially frowned-upon act) – Arnaud naturally developed an interest in reclaiming and repurposing damaged, marked, or worn materials to create his furniture-objects.
When working with raw materials, the patina and aging process, whether natural or accelerated, is meticulously calculated to ensure that the final piece feels alive, imbued with history and character.
More than just furniture, these creations – produced in limited series of only a few pieces – serve as a deep reflection on humankind, traditions, and our relationship with the environment: life, the wear and tear of bodies and objects, their deterioration, and ultimately, their demise and recycling. Other themes, such as deforestation, climate disasters, and the overexploitation of natural resources, are also explored through his work.
His organic, patinated, poetic yet raw and refined creations celebrate the beauty of imperfection and the singularity of materials, textures, and colors shaped by life and time.
In parallel, he also runs a woodworking studio where he produces custom commissions and small-batch pieces for a broader audience.
